On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, the Council of Ministers approved the salary scale for engineering positions, which will take effect from December 31, 2024. This initiative targets employees in government agencies holding engineering positions according to the Saudi Unified Classification of Professions, who are on the general employee salary scale and hold a bachelor’s degree in one of the engineering disciplines from recognized Saudi universities.
The new engineering job classification and salary scale include several developmental aspects for the engineering sector by transforming the career path for engineers from the general employee salary scale to the new professional track. This will involve progression according to specific engineering professional categories: (Engineer, Associate Engineer, Professional Engineer, Consulting Engineer), in accordance with the Engineering Practice System and professional accreditation from the Saudi Council of Engineers and the Saudi Unified Classification of Professions.
The new salary scale is expected to create an attractive and motivating work environment for engineering talents in the government sector and enhance the level of professional practice among engineers.
